How we sit at this table

This is a neighbors' site. The rules are short because most of them come down to not being the reason we need more rules.

Using the site

Anyone can read. To post, you sign in with a Google account. You're responsible for what's posted from your account, so don't hand it around.

What you write

What you post stays yours. By posting it here you're giving us permission to show it on the site — nothing more. We don't claim ownership and we won't sell it or license it to anyone.

What doesn't belong here

Harassment, threats, or targeting people
Hate directed at anyone for who they are
Spam, scams, or advertising you weren't invited to post
Other people's private information
Anything illegal, or instructions for doing harm
Impersonating someone else

Disagreement is welcome and expected — a preparedness forum where everyone agrees isn't much use. Contempt is not the same as disagreement.

Moderation

We can remove any post and block any account. We try to be light-handed and we'd rather talk to someone than remove them. New accounts may have their first post held briefly for review; this is about spam, not about you.

If something needs attention, tell us. We'd rather hear from you than find it a week later.

What this site isn't

Nothing here is professional advice — not medical, legal, engineering, or emergency guidance. In a genuine emergency, call the people whose job that is. Preparedness discussion is people sharing what they know, which is valuable and is not the same as expertise.

We do our best to keep the site accurate and available, but we can't guarantee either. Use your own judgment about anything you read here.

Your account

You can leave whenever you want and ask us to delete your account and posts. We can close an account that's breaking these terms.

Changes

If these terms change meaningfully, we'll say so on the site rather than quietly editing the page.
